At SwabTec, we are dedicated to revolutionising animal health through innovative research. Our primary focus is developing solutions to enhance the breeding of disease-resistant sheep for cost-effective livestock management. SwabTec is a newly formed company that is validating a saliva based test for breeding worm resistant sheep. The test aims to be faster, cheaper and more accurate than the current gold standard (worm egg count test). Saliva should also be more pleasant to collect than poo.

Results to date
We have great news!!! Our research to validate the heritability of wabSwab is complete and results back from AGBU. Our test has been found to have a heritability of 0.4. We are awaiting further analysis on how the trait correlates with WEC and other key production traits.
